TULSA, OK – [April 10, 2014] – More than 600 cyclists from across the state and region will descend upon Tulsa on Saturday, May 3 to participate in the 27th annual Tour de Tulsa community bike ride.
The cyclists will begin their ride at the River West Festival Park, located on the west bank of the Arkansas River between 23rd and Southwest Boulevard on Jackson at 8:00 a.m. Cyclists will be completing their choice of 25, 50, 62, or 100 mile routes. More than 50 volunteers will be working rest stops along the routes serving fruit, power bars, water, and Gatorade.
The cost to participate for those 13 years of age or over is $35 and the cost for those 12 and under is $10. Registration must be received by April 16th to receive a commemorative t-shirt. Riders may register on the day of the event beginning at 7:00 a.m. at River West Festival Park. There is a $10 price increase on ride day for the 25, 50, 62 or 100 mile route.
Families are also invited to participate in the Family Fun Ride, choosing to follow either a 5 or 13 mile course. The Family Fun Ride cost is $10 for participants of any age, and there is no additional charge for Family Fun Riders who register on ride day.
All proceeds will benefit local programs that improve the health status of children in the Tulsa community. Programs funded address childhood obesity prevention efforts including nutrition, physical activity, and parent education courses.
