Free Tulsa “Marketplace Monday” Enrollment & Education Event on March 24

TULSA, OK – [March 17, 2014] –  Tulsans will soon have an opportunity to learn more about the new health care law and get assistance with the online enrollment process at “Marketplace Monday” – a series of enrollment and education events taking place on Monday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at four locations in Tulsa. The events are free and open to the public.

With just two weeks left to enroll on the Health Insurance Marketplace, Marketplace Monday is an opportunity for uninsured Tulsans to meet one-on-one with health insurance navigators and certified application counselors to ask questions about the new health care law, determine eligible discounts or subsidies and complete the online enrollment process. Assistance is available in English and Spanish.

Tulsa community and health care organizations have partnered to bring Marketplace Monday to the public. Organizations include: Morton Comprehensive Health Services, Tulsa Regional Chamber, Tulsa Health Department, OSU Medical Center, Indian Health Care Resource Center of Tulsa, Hillcrest HealthCare System, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, GlobalHealth, Tulsa City-County Library, Community Service Council, CommunityCare, and Community Health Connection. 

“We want to make sure that Tulsans have the chance to learn more about the new health care law and enroll in coverage before the deadline on March 31,” said Dr. Bruce Dart, Tulsa Health Department Director. “We all want to make Tulsa a healthier place to work, live and raise a family, and greater access to health care is a big step toward achieving that goal.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring several important documents to the event: social security numbers and/or immigration status numbers for all family members; employer and/or other income information; policy numbers for any current health insurance; and information about any job related health insurance currently available.
