TULSA, OK – [April 4, 2016] – Registration is now open for the 29th annual Tour de Tulsa presented by St. John Health System. The ride will take place at River West Festival Park on Saturday, May 7.

Tour de Tulsa has become a springtime tradition, with more than 700 cyclists from across the state and region descending upon Tulsa to participate in the community bike ride.

Cyclists will begin their ride at the River West Festival Park, located on the west bank of the Arkansas River at 2105 South Jackson Avenue at 8:00 a.m. Cyclists will complete their choice of 22, 50, 62, or 100 mile routes. More than 50 volunteers will be working rest stops along the routes serving fruit, granola bars, water and Gatorade.

Tour de Tulsa is hosted annually by the Tulsa Health Department and the Tulsa Bicycle Club as a way to promote health in the community. This is the first time the ride has had a presenting sponsor.

“St. John Health System is proud to be the first-ever presenting sponsor of the Tour de Tulsa.  This event pairs our ongoing commitment to encourage physical activity for individuals of all ages, while supporting vital community programs that focus on initiatives to improve overall health outcomes to area residents,” said Ann Paul, St. John Health System chief strategy officer.

The cost to participate for those 13 years of age or over is $35 and the cost for those 12 and under is $10. Registration must be received by April 20 to receive a commemorative t-shirt. Riders may register on the day of the event beginning at 7:00 a.m. at River West Festival Park. There is a $10 price increase on ride day for the 22, 50, 62 or 100 mile route.

Families are also invited to participate in the Family Fun Ride, choosing to follow either a 6 or 10 mile course. The Family Fun Ride cost is $10 for participants of any age, and there is no additional charge for Family Fun Riders who register on ride day.

Register online with a credit card at www.tulsabicycleclub.org/tdt. Online registration ends May 4.

Proceeds from Tour de Tulsa will benefit Pathways to Health (P2H), which unites more than 90 local agencies, organizations, corporations and health systems to improve health outcomes in Tulsa County. P2H was formed by the Tulsa Health Department in 2008 in response to a challenge to decrease the overlap of health services and identify gaps where leaders are missing vulnerable populations. Today, P2H is an incorporated non-profit entity with the goal to connect community health resources to those who need it most.

The 29th annual Tour de Tulsa platinum sponsors include Health Zone at Saint Francis and CareATC. Ride day support is provided by the Tulsa Amateur Radio Club, Tom’s Bicycles, T-Town Bicycles and Spoke House Bicycles.
